WORKS ON PAPER
Paper, ink, mylar, tape… these woven text works utilize traditional materials often associated with collage. They reflect an interest in the formality of the grid and the square, simultaneously undoing these modernist tropes with a density of literal content. Assorted texts are very tightly woven into and against each other, much like a palimpsest (i.e. Interpretation of Dreams + Alice in Wonderland). The resulting paradox is a heightened attention to language, while methodically and carefully undoing the narrative, its meaning, and ultimately offering another perspective on meaning.
